AVAILABILITY OF GLYCOGENE KNOCKOUT MICE
Note: CFG production of novel mouse strains has been discontinued by NIGMS mandate as of November 1, 2009. From 2001-2009, the CFG generated 26 total and conditional knockout mouse lines deficient in glycan-binding proteins or glycosyltransferases. Each of these glycogene targets were specifically chosen by the Mouse Committee and approved by the Steering Committee for their impact on the CFG's overall goal. Since the CFG no longer generates new mouse lines, this page is maintained as a service to the community to help investigators locate potential sources of glycogene knockout mouse lines.

Table 1 provides information on knockout mouse lines originally created by the CFG (highlighted in blue) and other glycogene knockout mouse lines available to the community from commercial sources, or alternatively from investigators who maintain live colonies and have indicated a willingness to provide them (see details in footnote below). If you also maintain these or other mouse strains that might be of interest to the glycomics community and would be willing to provide them to other investigators upon request, please contact Anna Crie, who can assist with updating the list with your information.

Table 2 lists other transgenic mouse reagents available from MMRRC, KOMP, or TSRI. These include CFG targets that are available at the DNA construct or ES cell stages for investigators who wish to complete them in their own labs.

Strains originally created by the CFG are highlighted in blue in the 'Category' column. Please note that all CFG strains were created from Bruce4 ES cells (generating C57BL/6 mice) except for St6galnacII and GlcnacT9 knockout lines, which were made in the 129 background. CFG strains available through the MMRRC can also be found by selecting 'Consortium Functional Glycomics' under the 'Major Collection' pulldown menu in the online MMRRC catalog search form.
